Transfer Admissions Process

Step 1 - Apply for Admissions

Students transferring must apply for admission to Carson-Newman College by the dates required by the anticipated term of enrollment.  Students applying to transfer to Carson-Newman must submit official transcripts and transfer recommendation forms from each college the student attended.  Applicants who have completed fewer than 24 semester hours of transferable college credit (after high school graduation) must also submit official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. APPLY NOW!

Step 2 - Admissions Review

Once all needed forms are received, the student's application is reviewed by the Office of Admissions and/or the Admissions Review Committee.  The requirements for transfer admission are listed under the Transfer Admissions Requirements.  The Office of Admissions will notify the student of the Admission Decision in approximately two (2) weeks after all documentation is received.

Step 3 - Acceptance

Congratulations!  Once the student has been accepted to Carson-Newman, an Acceptance Packet will be sent via mail.  Students must fill out the official forms and return those forms back to the Office of Admissions.  In addition to the Admissions Packet, a transfer evaluation will be included with a detailed list of the classes that will be credited here at Carson-Newman.  The Admissions Packet contains the following forms:

A) Acceptance Letter - The Acceptance Letter will include the information and provisions concerning the Admission Decision.  The student does not need to send this letter back to the Office of Admissions.

B) Biographical Form - The Biographical Form contains more specific details about the admitted student.

C) Immunization Form - Per the State of Tennessee, Carson-Newman must receive a record of all immunizations from the admitted student.

D) Residence Hall Application - Students must apply for housing using the Residence Hall Application.  The application includes a roommate request section and a residence hall preference section.

E) Enrollment Fee Form - The Enrollment Fee Form must be submitted to the Office of Admissions before a student can sign-up for C-N Orientation Sessions or be assigned a Residence Hall.

Step 4 - Apply for Financial Assistance

Students can apply for financial assistance from Carson-Newman College.  In addition to scholarships awarded by the college, federal and state assistance programs including grants, low interest loans, and the HOPE Scholarship are available by filing the FAFSA.  For more information concerning financial assistance, check out the C-N Office of Financial Assistance Website.

Step 5 - Enrollment Fee

Students must submit the Enrollment Fee Form in addition to the Enrollment Fee (for most students, the fee is $100).  Once the student has submitted his/her enrollment fee, he/she may sign up for summer orientation sessions and officially register for classes.  In addition to class preference, all Residence Hall Assignments are made based on the student's enrollment fee date.  The earlier the date, the better choice a student will have with classes and residence halls.

Step 6 - C-N Orientation

After the student has submitted the Enrollment Fee, he/she may sign-up for one of our summer orientation sessions.  At these events, the student may register for classes and finalize housing plans.  Once a student has attended C-N Orientation, he/she will be ready to officially enroll.  Information about signing up for Orientation will be listed on the main page.
