Detailed Steps:

Step 1) Gain Acceptance to Carson-Newman - All students must apply and be officially accepted to Carson-Newman before financial assistance can be offered.  Your application for admission is also your application for the C-N Award which is based on a student's reported GPA. To apply for admission to Carson-Newman, click here.

Step 2) Prior to Dec. 1: Submit C-N 4caster/After Jan. 1: Submit Fafsa - Students who apply for Fall Acceptance can submit the C-N 4caster to receive their C-N Early Award Letter.  After January 1st, students must file the FAFSA.  By filing either the C-N 4caster or FAFSA, students can expect their C-N Award Letter in approximately two weeks.  However if you have been selected for a process called verification, your award letter will be completed after you have submitted requested information.  Several scholarships are awarded on a First-Come, First-Served basis, so you need apply early and submit requested information in a timely fashion.

Step 3) Submit Applications/Tryout for Other C-N General Scholarships - Check out the C-N General Scholarships homepage to see a listing of other C-N Scholarships that can be added to your C-N Award Letter.  There are scholarships such as the Bonner Scholars Program and the Minority Scholarship that require separate applications.  Music, Cheerleading, Dance Team, and Athletics are just a sample listing of departments offering scholarships.  A complete listing of C-N General Scholarships are found under the scholarship section of this website.

Step 4) Receive Your C-N Award Letter - Shortly after you submit either the C-N 4caster or the FAFSA, C-N will send your official Award Letter.  Students have approximately 3 weeks to accept the award, as the scholarships are only guaranteed for that period.

Step 5) Commit to Carson-Newman - Once a student receives their C-N Award Letter, they have up to 3 weeks to sign the Award Letter and return to the Office of Financial Assistance.  Scholarships are only guaranteed to students who officially commit to Carson-Newman  (First Choice Scholarships can be void if allotted amount is given before you submit back your Award Letter; it is imperative that you submit your Award Letter ASAP to ensure First Choice Scholarships).  By sending in the Enrollment Deposit and C-N Intent Form, students secure their scholarship offers and reserve a spot in the incoming class.
