Scholarships, Grants, and Awards

Carson-Newman offers competitive scholarships to qualified students.  The scholarships and programs below are designated for full-time, traditional, first time degree-seeking, undergraduate students.

Once a student is accepted to C-N, the student can qualify for a C-N Award.  The C-N Award is based on a student's GPA from a previous high school and/or college.  Carson-Newman and the Federal and State Governments then offer many scholarships that can be in addition to the C-N Award.

Carson-Newman College Scholarships

C-N Award (up to $8,000 per year)
A C-N Award is our basic scholarship awarded to most traditional, full-time, undergraduate students.  These scholarships are based on a student's GPA from high school or college.  Click on the link above to see if you qualify.

 C-N First Choice Program
Our First Choice Program allows students to receive their C-N Award Letter only a few weeks after acceptance!  Students must be accepted and submit all forms prior to December 15, 2008.  First Choice Scholarships significantly reduce the cost of attendance and WILL be expended before the deadline.  Apply Early!

 C-N General Scholarships (amounts vary)
C-N offers general scholarships in many areas such as music performance, minority students, and community service.  Also, C-N does offer athletic scholarships including our Dance Team and Cheerleading Squad.  These scholarships are in addition to a C-N Award (see above).

Federal and State Scholarships and Grants

State Grants and Awards (amounts vary)
The State of Tennessee offers many scholarships to students attending C-N.  Click on the link above to find out more about the TN HOPE Scholarship, TSAC Awards, and the General Assembly Merit Scholarships.  These awards are in addition to your C-N Award (see above).

Federal Grants and Awards (amounts Vary)
Pell Grants and Perkins Loans are funds awarded based on your results from the FAFSA.  Check out the link above for more on programs and scholarships available through the U.S. Department of Education.  These awards are in addition to your C-N Award(see above).

*Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to continue to receive awards.  Scholarship programs and award amounts are subject to change.  All institutional aid is designed for students enrolled in full-time, day, traditional, undergraduate study.  Applications received after May 1st will be awarded based on availability of funds.  Necessary adjustments to financial aid will be made at the end of each drop/add period.
