- Transient Admission
- Requirements:
- -Official transcripts or letter of approval from current institution's academic dean or registrar
- -Non-refundable $25 application fee

- Evening Student Admission
- Prospective students may apply for admission for enrollment in evening classes as a student in regular (degree seeking) or provisional status. Regular status will be granted to those applicants who meet requirements for freshman or transfer admission. Adult students who have a high school diploma or GED but who have not previously taken either the ACT or SAT tests will be admitted in a provisional status. Any student who does not submit an ACT math subscore of 25 or higher must meet the General Education requirements (Goal II) by taking an approved math course.

- Post-Baccalaureate Admission
- Candidates, who have obtained a bachelor's degree and wish to enroll in coursework seeking a second degree, teacher certification, or health professions preparation, may apply for post-baccalaureate admission. Graduates of Carson-Newman must complete a re-admission application. Candidates who do not have an undergraduate degree from C-N must submit an application for admission, official college transcripts, and a non-refundable $25 application fee.

- Auditing Student Admission
- Applicants who wish to participate in a credit course for the learning experience only (without earning credit) may apply for admission in an audit status. Cost is one-half tuition rate per credit hour. Applicants must submit an application for admission, $25 application fee, and high school/college transcripts. Auditors may enroll in classes on approval of instructors and a space-available basis.

- Special Student Admission
- A candidate who possesses a baccalaureate degree and wishes to enroll at C-N as a non-degree seeking student may apply for admission as a special student. Applicants must submit an application for admission, official college transcripts, and a $25 application fee. Students who are admitted with special student status are not eligible for financial assistance from C-N.
